Intel’s new SSD is the 6Gbps 510 series

We knew that Intel would release some new SSD, sooner or later, and it turns out today was the day. The company unveiled the DSS series 510 with a 6Gbps fast interface to allow maximum flow in the latest motherboards of today, such as packing Intel chipsets own point of Cougar.

In its press release pointed out that Intel's 510 series is capable of reading data over 500Mbps and wrote more than 315MBps, that significantly higher rates compared to older products. The 510 does not seem as fast as we heard the first reports of the second generation SSD based SandForce (chipsets used as SandForce SF-2200), but Intel is just behind the writing speed. Intel has focused more on reliability and brand recognition with its SSD therefore should not be a problem if you (again), do not offer the fastest products on the market.

new units are built on Intel's 34nm companies, MLC NAND architecture. The big change with the 510 is using a Marvell controller instead of internally developed by Intel.

The transition to 6 Gbps SATA III will eliminate an important bottleneck flow SSD, although users will have a new motherboard to take advantage of it. Still, they are updated (and they need new motherboards, flawless sand bridge) you should see a significant increase in transfer rate compared to older products. older consumers Intel SSD X25-M a ceiling of sequential read / write speeds of 250Mbps and 100Mbps.

510 ship 120GB SSD and 250GB 1000-unit prices of most of the $ 284 and $ 584. Everyone makes a three-year warranty.

4.8-inch tabletphone running Windows 7

With all the buzz around the tablet devices these days, the final product AdvanceTC (W3 Magic) offers a different perspective on madness. Instead of a conventional mobile operating system like Windows Mobile 7 honeycomb, the company has managed to fine tune Windows 7 on a device the size of a smartphone standard.

It offers quad-band GSM, in which calls are handled through AdvanceTC custom user interface, Intel Atom 1.6Ghz, 1GB RAM, 32GB SSD, 1.3-megapixel camera and 4.8-inch WVGA (800 x 480) display. The power unit includes a 3200mAh battery, which may seem high, but the entire operating system on board, is likely to drain fast enough. However AdvanceTC do some software installed to do this.

For those who hesitate to use the device with a small screen, there will be an optional HDMI dock that can enhance its functionality and run as a nettop PC.

No details of price or release date, but once we know something, you'll be the first to hear.

Powermat NFC Wireless Charging mats

In practice objects equipped with Near Field Communication (NFC) chips can contain tags filled with information, this could be either text or web url’s for example. When another NFC device (i.e. a smartphone) comes into close proximity to the latter it can read the data on the tag.

The problem with NFC in my opinion is that in terms of the mobile community it has not had much chance to take off, especially with phones like the Nexus S which as most people will know is currently the only Android handset to feature said technology.

However, Powermat seems to think there is some long-term potential with it as they have developed an antenna that supports contactless NFC and combined this with their own wireless charging technology. According to Powermat Chief Executive Ran Poliakine such a product should help drive the adoption of NFC whilst boosting Powermat sales in the process.

Poliakine also believes that we will cease to use wired power cords for gadgets in the not to distant future (10 years). However, phones that are compatible with Powermat’s new, NFC-enabled silicon have yet to launch, but once they do Poliakine states that you will be able to purchase small items from retailers with a simple swipe of your device.

PlayStation 2 mod creates new portable machine

The PlayStation 2 is a console gamers will never forget a few. Unlike clumsy start of the PS3, which was perfect monitoring of the PSOne and sold like hotcakes, and continued to sell millions, but was replaced.

But still I have my PS2 on television, some people decided to start experimenting with the hardware in place. One such person is a modder United Kingdom under the name of techknott who managed to convert a PS2 console PS2 in a handheld unit.

Drive is mounted on the back and the Dual Shock controller is installed in the headquarters and reorganized around the screen in the PSone console screen enhancement. This is a 5-inch TFT color LCD, which is not enough.

Although it is a bulky unit, I can still see it is okay to take while playing for relatively long periods. This is not the PSP, however, and can currently be played on the road because of the lack of a battery.

Techknott actually makes your handheld as a commission, but the person who did not respond to most. Your only alternative is to sell to the highest bidder through the forums ModRetro

Robonaut 2 Robotic Assistant Leaves ISS

Space shuttle Discovery makes its final release last night and briefly mentioned that "the astronauts will be responsible for the replenishment of the International Space Station and the provision of a new robot assistance.

It 'was a robot called Robonaut 2 helper (a project originally developed by NASA and Grumman Aerospace before General Motors took over), which is $ 2,500,000 USD 330 pound robot head, torso NOVA style (think of the game with iPhone the same name), and two working arms.

In addition Robonaut 2 frame 3-foot steel and aluminum. His biceps bulge robot is capable of lifting 20 pounds in each hand. It also features more than 350 sensors and is powered by PowerPC processors 38, four cameras and an infrared camera that is on his head.

Their job is to live aboard the ISS to help (autonomously or via remote control) and interact with the crew. Primarily be implemented and used for tasks such as handling tools and flipping switches. Motorola gets sued for Xoom trademark infringement

Today is the release date of Motorola Xoom. This is an important day for Motorola, not only the release of the first tablet of a honeycomb, which are device independent author was able to compete as Android compressed to 10 cm before the beginning of the iPad 2.

It is also the day that Motorola continued to trademark infringement. Online payment of Xoom Corporation, the company has filed a lawsuit against the Motorola brand in the Northern District of California, asked the court for a permanent injunction, but also a "temporary restraining order and / or an injunction."

You will not get - there is simply no way to stop the release roller Xoom - but is an interesting combination of Xoom, because there seems to be in the wrong, or troll. They have the trademark owned by Xoom since 2003. In addition, Motorola has the brand awareness, as they also own and maintain

Xoom alleges that Motorola trademark infringement is "knowingly and willfully", and it seems hard to believe he is not. Presumably, Motorola believes that the mark is protected, but only in markets that have nothing to do with the tablets ... or felt they could afford to fight against this trial, as he came.

Anyway, is a rare case, since - at least - would have known Xoom Motorola trying to buy the brand. Motorola has changed the name of Xoom? Ultimately, it depends on two things: if the courts rule in favor of Xoom Corporation, and if the Xoom is popular enough to be more than a flash in the pan.

Aquafairy fuel cell charges iPhone in 90 minutes: just add water

The promise of fuel cells that gives us all the day / week / month of energy has been around for several years. I look forward to dumping my rechargeable batteries for a while, instead of replacing them with a fuel cell that can fill and forget for more than 30 hours.

Until now, these fuel cells have been only a research project in the best, with launches planned for not proceeding, or quantities are limited and expensive that you can not buy one and never hear from them again.

This situation could change, however. Aquafairy Japanese company have developed a new fuel cell specifically targeting cell phones. This is called AF-M3000, and even if it does not fit inside a handset, it does promise to charge you if you add a little water.

This promotional video shows Aquafairy released their fuel cell technology, the power of different devices, such as charging a cell phone using water as fuel.

The fuel cell uses calcium hydroxide, which produces hydrogen gas when added to water. This in turn reacts with oxygen to produce the energy needed to recharge the phone battery. Aquafairy say-AF M3000 produces 3 watts and can be downloaded from the iPhone for 90 minutes.

As with any new technology, fuel cell is not cheap. When he was released in April you can expect to pay about $ 320 for it.

Microsoft launches three new additions to mouse range

While most news in the category of Mouse usually involve a wireless solution, the longer battery life, or a new design new, Microsoft has gone the other way. Three new additions to its line of Mouse is decidedly simple, cheap and cable.

Microsoft also released a Comfort Mouse 3000 Comfort Mouse 6000 and as its name suggests, these models are all about comfort. The main difference between the two is 6000 is specifically aimed at those who are right. 3000 can be used with both hands.

When the 3000-costs $ 19.95, the 6000 is $ 29.95. This additional $ 10 is not only good design, even if, as you get 5 custom buttons instead of 3 from 3000 There is also a "roller trigger" to make great use of the scroll wheel gently .

Both the Comfort Mouse 3000 and 6000 are out in April.

Apple to unveil iPad 2 on March 2

All speculation about when the iPad 2 will be published at the end of All Things Digital has been said that the IPAD 2 was released on 2 March.

Apple is apparently set to hold an event of that day, only 8 days from now when the new tablet will be unveiled. And she must be the confirmation of an official launch date and along with all the new features it sports.

The event in San Francisco, the most likely is Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Although Apple has not said a peep even rumors of a new iPad, the pin must be both thinner and lighter than the 1.5 pound, 0.52 inch, original, at least one camera for video chat, and make-up processor additional memory.

It was also mentioned that the iPad 2 comes with improved graphics similar to display "retina", the iPhone now 4, but a recent report, Wall Street Journal, shot down the rumors and says that the new evidence can be "trick 'buyer "expects" significant improvement "in the resolution.

The news comes just days before the arrival of Motorola Xoom, a tablet with a 10.1-inch screen that runs on Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" shelf-centric new version of Google Android mobile platform.

IPad compete in the near future Android-powered G-slate LG, RIM BlackBerry playbook and touchpad WebOS powered by HP.

Sony Is Working On Hack-proof PS3 With 300 GB Hard Drive

When pirates Chaos Congress last year announced the method by which they had found the master key for PlayStation 3, which was immediately obvious to most that the PlayStation 3 just irrevocably hijacked. The master key, after all, allows any piece of code to impersonate Sony officially sanctioned code. Worse, the key is encoded on each PlayStation 3, so that Sony can not be changed. This means that all existing PlayStation 3 can jailbreak forever.

Since the master key has been released by Sony have gone through a lot of trouble trying to pee out of the pool, as was known to sue the hackers who have found the master key. All aware of the security, however, knew that the only thing Sony could do was to issue the new system, which uses a new (and better hidden), a master key.

Now it seems that is exactly what Sony is doing. After some recent declines in prices around the PS3, an anonymous source close to Sony said now that the machine console is deep in plans to develop a new test PS3 hackers, probably with a new key.

According to the report, hack-proof SKU will be a PS3 Slim has a 300 GB hard drive. This hard drive is designed to be an incentive to upgrade when the new system will cost about $ 299 when it hits ... which is exactly the same price as the current model 160 GB

Sony's best hope against piracy at the moment is that people replace their PlayStation 3 ... a tactic adopted by Sony with their PSP hacker-friendly. I, however, is a bigger hard drive at the same price that many hackers now encourage their libraries full game for free.

This Violin Of 8 Bits May Be The Best Instrument Ever

Flickr user Ranjit put together an impressive violin 8-bit and took pictures of it. He also recorded a video Bre Pettis (MakerBot and fame) to play. Trust me, you may want to check this.

Wondering what a violin at 8-bit, anyway? No, not playing music chiptune. Rather, the violin was grainy, 8-bit style, using all the angles. In the photo above makes things pretty clear, although some better photos in my Flickr page. The work deck is particularly cool.

The message that explains the work said it was a play violin built both maple and oak. And the sign mentioned the instructions to download thingverse, it seems reasonable to assume that the parts were laser cut or CNC machining of all kinds. Anyway, maybe you can make your own violin to 8 bits, one day before!

Panasonic To Launch 10.1-inch Mobile TV

The use of motion control is necessary to extend beyond the boundaries of the gaming devices if the final product from Panasonic is a sign of the future. The Japanese company has unveiled a new 10.1-inch LCD TV that can be controlled with gestures.

The DMP-HV200 Panasonic VIERA has a small 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) display that tight is designed to be portable and can spend four hours on one battery charge. Other features include Wi-Fi, a USB 2.0 port and card slot SDXC. But it's the gesture that controls this unit stand out.

While TV still requires a distance of more complex operations, commercial drivers have a built-in allows you to run your hand left or write to change the channel up or down to adjust the volume. These gestures only work with their hands inside the screen of 10 cm, though. TV channel has its own recipe, so it can be used as a cookbook in the kitchen.

The inclusion of a USB port also means that you can connect the camera and the display of the Panasonic supports Skype State. There is also the possibility to model Blu-ray built in, but we doubt you could understand, the graphics in HD resolution on this.

controls in a gesture of mobile TV is not cheap, however. The new Viera will be available in Japan from March 18 to $ 640 (without the Blu-ray).

G155 Xbox 360 & PS3 Slim self-contained gaming case

If you're determined to take your Xbox 360 with you, and are not as technically gifted as Ben Heck did modding your portable gaming solution, you can try this alternative case full of features, GAEMS place.

A laundry folding robot?

Certainly one of the next tasks to be dishes in our house is folding laundry. Of course, it's a breeze to wash clothes and put them in the dryer, but in fact fold clothes and store always seems to take forever.
Good thing that the technology may be the answer to this tedious household chore that can only be a few years away from the average consumer, and that there is a robot folding laundry. Founder of the genes robot at the University of California at Berkeley, this robot can be folded clothes, using green screen technology and a technique called "diversion." Technology eliminates the entire background of the vision of the robot so that only need to wear an object can be bent.

How about turning the socks that have turned upside down, then you ask? This robot also has a solution to this dilemma laundry using a short pole to put socks on the right-back.

Olympus E-PL2 Micro Four Thirds camera

Ready to debut at CES 2011, and the image data for the camera Olympus E-PL2 Micro Four Thirds has already leaked to the entire interwebs.

At first glance, the new camera with interchangeable lenses looks quite similar to its predecessor, the popular and inexpensive Olympus Pen E-PL1.

Notable specifications for the E-PL2:

  • Image resolution: 12.3MP
  • Screen size: 3.0-inches
  • File format RAW (12-bit lossless compression), JPEG, RAW+JPEG
  • Recording image size [RAW] 4032 x 3024 pixels
  • Video format: AVI Motion JPEG (30fps, Some Art Filters are exceptional)
  • Movie Mode HD: 1280(H)x720(V), D: 640(H)x480(V)

  • ISO: 200 – 6400
  • Shutter speed: 60 – 1/4000 sec, Bulb up to 30min
  • Dimensions 115.4 mm (W) x 72.7mm (H) x 42.0mm (D) (excluding protrusions)
  • Weight 317g (body only), 362g(including Battery and Memory card)

To recharge these batteries, just wind them up..

Rechargeable batteries are useful because you can reuse over and over again only to drop them close to the charger for a few minutes or hours. But what if you're in a situation where the charger is not available or can be broken? Now, how good they are, batteries lose their usefulness quickly, unless you have a backup battery charger.

This is where the design team Hwang Yeon Kyeong Ho Kang and Mieong comes in. They both have a concept for a new rechargeable battery that can not only get a boost from normal charging stations, but these batteries have the advantage that you can wind to give them a refill if necessary.

Except that these batteries be useful if you do not want to bring a charger all the time, these batteries can also be downloaded in an emergency if you have no charger available. Pretty slick stuff. We hope this innovative battery supporter of the duo to find their concept of wind power is very soon.

Mitsubishi improves LCD TV color output with a red laser

Improving the quality of color LCD TV, we all look apparently requires the use of lasers. Although RGB is already used in some laser light projection televisions are expensive. Mitsubishi has found a way to use a single laser, thus reducing the additional costs still need to improve the color quality of consumption patterns.

46-inch prototype unit has been established that uses a red laser diode and a pair of cyan LED. While the laser is responsible for producing red, cyan LED control both the Greens and the results blue. The you can see in the picture above, which is a red laser output to the left. Other model Mitsubishi TV is already available on the market today.

Red was chosen as the green or blue laser, according to Mitsubishi, gave the best results in full vitality. One of the green and blue was also important because apparently caused by the use of color in part is irregular.

Facebook will now into SIM cards

Facebook has long been a service that has taken great care to be accessible via mobile phones, smartphones in particular, but as social networks fits into the third world, many users of smartphones and data plans more abandoned.

Soon, all GSM phones could have come built right in, thanks to a new SIM card from Gemalto, which provide functionality in text mode to get the phone wimpiest same function.

    According to a Facebook spokesperson:

We worked closely with Gemalto on their Facebook for SIM product and believe it will be another easy and affordable way for people to stay connected through Facebook on the mobile phone of their choice. Facebook for SIM creatively combines technologies from some of our existing mobile solutions that especially are attractive for people with feature phones and have limited or no data plans with a mobile operator. Through the Facebook application on the SIM card people can: Update their status and view comments on it; write on their friends wall; receive notifications; find friends on their SIM phonebook.

Although many features of Facebook is a material for mobile phone users - for example, photos or videos have a dependent device that can capture or display - the bulk of the contents of Facebook is still in text mode. new Gemalto SIM card will allow any phone capable of displaying text - which is almost all of them - to enter the world of data and rich interaction hosted on Facebook servers. Those of us with the iPhone may scoff, but if you are an Indian or a South African old functionality Nokia and Facebook turn on the road and is literally as simple as connecting a new SIM card.

    Windows Phone 7: Copy-Paste Multi-tasking

When Windows Phone 7 last year, without multi-tasking, or cut and paste support (Microsoft makes a mockery of the features of Apple for years, is the iPhone OS), Microsoft has promised to rectify the situation quickly.

How long? Four months later and we still do not know, but it seems that Microsoft has announced it is preparing a major update for Windows 7 Phone that will add to both multi-tasking, cut and paste, and a mobile version of Internet Explorer 9 operating system.

How multitasking work? As in IOS or webOS, this particularly fast application switching. Simply press the Back button to return to his past userd application or hold the key to access screen changes, showing images of open applications to pass through. Re-enter a request, and returns immediately.

In other words, unlike what we mean by multitasking on a desktop OS, multi-tasking in Windows 7 Phone freezes applications in their state on exit and you can instantly switch between them, while other key APIs - as the background audio - continues to operate.

The new version is a major improvement IE9, as the current Windows 7 telephone handsets ship with IE7 four year old child.

Another feature is that it comes WP7 SkyDrive, which will give users 25 GB of cloud storage line connecting both the office and the smartphone.

Regarding IE9 copy and paste, and multitasking, while it is set to be introduced as part of a monolithic system updates the call due to "current year" are just copy and paste officially WP7 all handsets next month.

RIM’s PlayBook may run Android apps

A major concern for the launch of a new hardware platform is that there will be enough applications available to stimulate demand. Research In Motion (RIM) may seek to minimize this problem in terms of its playbook tablet that lets you run applications built for another mobile operating system. Specifically, in addition to operating its own applications, RIM said it intends to allow applications to run on Android and the tablet.

Such a move would be a huge boost to the number of applications available for the playbook, because there are more than 130,000 applications available for Android OS. In comparison, only 20,000 applications available on the world of RIM BlackBerry App Bloomberg reports that RIM is the development platform for the inmate and will be available in the second half of this year. If RIM join this program, which would mean that the capacity would be available after the official launch of the book's game is scheduled for the first quarter.

Manual controls, an f1.8 lens and a big sensor make the Nikon P300 a winner

Nikon has announced a wave of new Coolpix digital cameras today, and although they are all fairly typical, that stands out from its brethren in the Nikon digital camera adorable P300 for professionals who want a little more oomph future of a game shots to the pocket.

Similar Canon S95, Nikon P300 is a compact digital camera is a big, beautiful probe target at high speed and a lot of manual controls for professionals.

The sensor has a 1/2.3-inch case, assembling 12.3 million pixels on a plate against the light of CMS, while the lens is about 24-100mm with a 35mm equivalent. The most impressive on this objective is the opening, which opens as wide as f1.8 which is impressive level SLR (the best goal I have for my Nikon D3000 open only to 1.8.) While ISO is pretty nice, running to 3200, although - as usual - you'll probably want to stop in 1600 in the noise.

Manual controls cover the full range of functions of exposure. Other features of the P300 are image stabilization and a large three inch LCD screen on the back as well as full support for 1080p video.

It's a pretty good camera. The only problem is that it lacks the ability to shoot RAW. Usually, this digicam is not big problem, but because the cell size and beauty of the lens, this is a camera that would have been able to get at least the possibility of shooting in RAW, especially when the competition - which is similarly priced to tags P300 $ 400 for all it is.

ViewSonic puts Windows 7 and Android on one 10-inch tablet

Windows 7 is the best operating system from Microsoft so far, but it is true only on the desktop, the forum has been designed. The tablets, it is terrible, so the interface and the management point of view of power, but Windows 8 is not out of a couple of years at least ... but in the meantime, many business users still want a tablet, which allows them to use their existing software for the PC.

ViewSonic has an interesting solution for those customers. ViewPad 10Pro is ten-inch tablet dual-boot functionality, which provides business users the ability to download up to Windows 7 Professional, where they are while otherwise living in Android 2.2 Froyo.

Inside, we're talking about ARM, we are talking about, thanks to the Intel Atom Oak Trail. In fact, this netbook is more round and offers 1024 x 600 LED-backlit display, five megapixel camera, microSD card slot for expansion, 3G, 802.11 b / g WiFi and Bluetooth.

You can see what ViewSonic is going to be here, but honestly, this is the kind of worst of both worlds. Professional Windows 7 just is not going to work well the tablet, and the Android 2.2 Froyo not have the same tablet: Android is not really ready for the tablets before the honeycomb.

What is Frankenstein. Pricing and release yet, but if you are in Barcelona, you can stop by the booth to see Sonic 10Pro ViewPad.

Sony wants to open PlayStation Move up to PC hackers like the Kinect

After only one quarter financial market are accessories Microsoft KINECTS gesture recognition for Xbox 360 is already the darling of the PC scene with a number of pirate hacks KINECTS beautiful out of the release of a pilot community open source.

What answer to Sony KINECTS however: PlayStation Move? He was left out even more, but we have not seen a single shot hack for now.

Dr. Richard Marks Sony wants to change all that. The man behind the PlayStation Move your intention to launch users PS3 PS3 peripherals ... KINECTS hacks but only uses data from the camera device, PC brand can allow hackers access to all levels of material moving from data of the EyeToy camera for the motion of the gyroscopes and accelerometers.

When the drivers for the transition to be released? The marks are not sure, but is expected soon.

It' was done on the PS3, so it is difficult in the sense that it happen," he told Ars. Starbucks New Mobile Payment System Is Trivially Hacked In Seconds

Last month, Starbucks has finally stopped testing its new mobile payment system after first introducing it back in 2009 and became national with applications that allowed customers to pay for their morning cup of joe simply by showing their barista bar code on the screen of their iPhone, Blackberry or Android.

After a year and a half of testing, Starbucks was pretty convinced that the new telephone system of payment is safe, right? It does not appear: reports already covers the new payment system of Starbucks is so trivial to hack that all it takes is simply looking over someone's shoulder.

Someone steals your account Starbucks dry, not even really need to do anything about hacking. Instead, if they saw the screen of your smartphone and can take a picture and the camera phone.

Here's how it works: normally when you pay for something with a smartphone similar changes under the bar code on each transaction. Pursuant to Starbucks that never changes, even the bar code, which means that if someone can take a photo of your bar code, they can switch your account indefinitely as their own.

This is a fairly large and vulnerable while the chances are low that you're hacked, you should always keep an eye on who knows if that customer in line behind you waiting to collect his afternoon Trenta your account ?

Activision kills Guitar Hero, DJ Hero franchises

Only five years after the first game was released almost universal acclamation, the Guitar Hero franchise is officially dead after publisher Activision announced yesterday that they would be decided by the music-gaming business.

The measure, which saw hundreds of workers lose their jobs effectively cancels the next Guitar Hero, due for release in 2011. The next game DJ Hero series has been canceled.

It's not really a surprise, though it is sad to see what had been one of the best video games of all time to govern the country. Playing with the music business of supersaturation has been declining for some time: when Activision has sold 1.5 million copies of the third Guitar Hero game series in the first month, the last game of the series are sold only 86,000 copies of the same month .

Guitar Hero is not only the title of a music game business problems: a few months ago, Viacom has also closed the MTV Games division to publish and sell Rock Band maker Harmonix.

It 's strange apathy when game was plenty of death Guitar Hero franchise, some people would have to show that the real cause of music are in decline because of the expense of incredible titles licensed songs.

Nevertheless, it seems that the old guard of the game music is dead and now we must look new. It's the end of an era.

HTC to debut their own Facebook phone

Mobile World Congress this year seems to be a strong presence in Facebook. Earlier today we heard about the new Facebook INQ two phones, and now sources say the Financial Times that HTC will release their own mobile Facebook, which have a dedicated button which, at least act as a shortcut to the largest social network.

The phone - which is probably an Android phone due to the scalability of this operating system - can offer greater integration with Facebook in a quick launch button however. Although details are not known at this stage, it is possible that HTC Facebook API used to integrate the state of social networking, photo and video sharing.

One way they could do that is by software HTC Sense, changing the UI, they send all their Android phones. This user interface has a level of integration of Facebook in the way they prefer updates and allows users to post messages to their profile from a central point.

Maybe HTC ways to expand considerably Sense IU to manage more robust feature Facebook, and the new shortcut button is simply an external reflection of modifying the software. Anyway, it works very, very likely that HTC plans to more than balance the second hardware button on each phone with a source told the Financial Times that the Facebook feature remains "one of the main shoot of the HTC the year. "

    Into the Mouth of Madness

This honestly has been one of those times where I could easily pack it in with this blog and quit for good.  It has been a very difficult week for us as a family.  We had a friend whom we’ve known for some time descend deeper and deeper into terrible mental illness.  I’m not at liberty to discuss all the details but let me say it has been deeply disturbing and a shock.  I have dealt with such things before as a minister but seeing someone this close go so far into madness has been a terrible blow to us all.  Neither we nor trained therapists and psychologists have yet been able to pierce the dark world our friend is in now but we continue to hold out our faith and pray.  Some of you may know that we are planning many trips this year.  This has also been a really challenge and stretching for our faith.  We will be leaving soon to Chicago for some meetings in a Ghanaian church and we intend to go back to Ireland in April.  My daughter will begin driving lessons this summer and by next fall we intend to head back to the Philippines. Follow the news and you know this is a very dangerous place these days and our family will be there for two months…one month we will prepare for a missionary team to follow by securing housing and setting up banking etc.  Lovely and I have done this before but this time things have gotten worse and we will bring Gabby for her first time there.  All of this we bring before God…we have no intention of quitting but admittedly I sometimes wonder if it’s worth putting it here…I guess for now I’ll remain.  I have been very annoyed that the file hosting site I normally use is screwed up so I can’t put my own music here.  I have no idea if they’ll fix it so for now it’s a mix of things I could find and that’s how it will stay for the time being.

Until I get through my pictures from Ghana I’ll keep plugging away.  The bitter cold and snow here returned with a vengeance and it does nothing to inspire me to take pictures…at least not just yet.  You know what I miss?  Green…grass, trees and of course the heat that accompanies green!  One thing that I love about living here in Montana is we can walk still…no fear of the crimes that stalk much of the world today…and no tall fences with their intimidating gates.  Ghana may have the high walls and gates but they also have such beautiful flowers and trees with exotic bark on their trunks.  It’s hard to walk anywhere without seeing a wonderful blossoming tree or bush…this I miss very much.  By God’s grace we’ll return to Ghana next January…then I can put even my dear friends in California to shame while they brag of sixty degree weather I’ll be in my shorts on a beach!  Ghana always has interesting things to see and things that I love to try.  You can always see someone selling their fare…this man had a lot of luggage for sale…he didn’t have enough hands to carry it all so he found a way.  This is dear Hans who is the youth pastor in my African brother’s church.  He worked tirelessly to capture Gabby’s favor.  We love him so very much.  We look forward to the time when we can return…not just for the weather and flowers you see!  There are times when I wish I were a botanist instead of one more failed gardener with a black thumb.  I often wonder if I could actually make something grow in counties like this.  If I could have a garden I think I’d include everything I couldn’t grow hereand that would include the majestic palms that may not have fruit but look so very amazing.  For now I can only dream of such things but you never know.  Stepping out your door can be a very dangerous thing because once your feet start walking down that path only God can tell where you’re going to end up!

Verizon Starts Pumping, Many Of Its Calls Through The LTE As Soon As Possible

It will not mean much to you now, but for future phones that you purchase from Verizon's network to LTE asked, turning most of the actual phone features of your smartphone with Verizon 4G data connection instead to its CDMA network cellular aging.

Called Volte, or Voice over Long-Term Evolution, the new technology will send calls over the Internet 4G rather than relying on existing lines Verizon cell phone. The benefits for users of voice quality much clearer. Voice calls and video VoLTE are initiated by dialing a telephone number to connect an email address or IP number

Not a couple of other interests here, though. For one, the way the Verizon CDMA network is working, you can not start for the simultaneous transmission of voice and data on their network ... one of the few drawbacks when it comes to Verizon's new iPhone. Making calls to LTE, the VoIP eliminates this problem because there is no such restriction, and data streams on 4G.

In addition, this could be very simplified form Verizon users pay. Instead of being charged separately for voice, text messages and data, VoLTE would be treated as data, unless it was a call to a legacy number.

Intriguing, but of course, with Verizon's 4G network covers only 25% of the country and the first devices that offer this feature is not due until the end of the year, end users have a long wait ahead before the distinction between data and voice is the way of the dodo, as it is.

Smartphones outsell PCs for the first time

Need further proof that the future of computing is mobile and the Internet? Consider the latest figures from IDC indicate that over 100 900 000 smart phones were sold worldwide in just the fourth quarter of 2010 alone. It is not only an increase of 82.7% number from last year's quarter of 53.9 million alone, but it also puts the total number of smartphones sold in 2010 to 302,600,000 ... an increase of 74.4% compared to 2009, and a number, which officially means that smart phones are outselling PC for the first time in history, at least for the fourth quarter.

The number of surprising at first, but it makes sense. For one thing most people already have PCs, and the market is saturated with them, while sales of smartphones are growing. In addition, most smartphones today people still want everything a PC, including email, browsing, and Facebook. Grant is the smartphone on average less expensive than a PC to boot, it is little wonder that so many people avoid buying a new computer when they can buy a new smartphone instead?

It is not to say that computers are sold in 2010. The numbers are also sold pink, but not at the same time an extreme amount. In fact, they increased only by 5.5%, transport for a total of 346.2 million units in 2010.

As for sellers smartphone sold primarily in the fourth quarter, Nokia continues to lead with 28.3 million sold smartpjones as Apple boasted 16.2 million, Research In Motion boasted 14.6 million and Samsung and HTC have been 9, 7 and 86 million respectively. Does anyone else think it reflects the seriousness of Nokia is running its business that it may sell 28.3 million smartphones and still be in danger?

Sprint will unveil dual-screen Android phone

Shortly after the iPhone Verizon began in mid-January last month Sprint sent a mysterious invitation to a press conference in New York with an appearance by the magician David Blaine. At that time, speculation that Sprint would also get the iPhone, now AT & T exclusivity has expired.

Well, Sprint will be tonight at six, and if a report in the Wall Street Journal is anything to go by, is a strange lot from another company to get the iPhone. In contrast, the WSJ sources say that Sprint will launch the Eco Kyocera smartphone, a phone designed to meet the areas and the smartphone platform with a unique dual screen design.

Apparently, the Echo will run Android and be a true multi-tasking device, applications do not only run in the background, but to allow two applications running side by side, like a desktop operating system. This design also allows items to be dragged and shared between the crystals.

Does the phone look strange to you? Kyocera and Sprint are putting much emphasis on his new hinge design allows two screens to refresh the echo that folds with a screen behind the other, making a device in a more traditional single screen. Presumably, this "magic" of the ability of Kyocera Echo is that you can blame David Blaine on appearance.

We know everything in an hour and a half, but if you are waiting for the echo of Kyocera using Sprint's WiMAX network, think again: Unfortunately, the Wall Street Journal reports that the echo is a single case 3G.
